— by Dave Trumbore: As I was putting together my thoughts for the Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind Blu-ray review, which I got to check out ahead of the film’s 35th anniversary theatrical re-release, I couldn’t help but wonder why we hadn’t seen many attempts at bringing Ghibli (and Ghibli-esque) films to life in live-action. I figured it was only a matter of time before some studio (probably Disney) went ahead with plans to reboot the whole catalogue with an international cast of up-and-coming actors. I never would have guessed that an independent Brazilian filmmaking team would take the first step, bringing their love of Nausicaä and all things Hayao Miyazaki to life in the short film Wind Princess
